What an exciting month it has been already!  I won a free pair of glasses on an online contest.  Clearlycontacts.com provided a free pair of glasses and a clothing gift card (mine was OldNavy, which now shops to Canada!) to the top three people with the most votes.  My pestering and messaging my Facebook contacts paid off as I ended up in third place!  I took full advantage of the 'free-ness' and picked out some nice VOUGE glasses, something I would never pay full price for!  Expensive or not, they are a huge step up from my chewed up pair I've had for 6 years!

We were able to visit with the Hanse family as Eric's bantam A boys hockey team played in a tournament in the Falls the first weekend in February.  The Monticello Moose went home champions, but endured quite a few injuries getting there.  Besides hockey, we also enjoyed watching the kids play and swim.  Reece finally learned to love the water!!  Andy developed a new method of getting him in and after that, he was a fish!  Speaking of fish, we caught a few of those over the weekend too.  My dad set up up in his icehouse for the afternoon on Saturday.  We didn't catch enough to make a meal, but we enjoyed the company.  I didn't think to grab my camera once during their visit, so here's and oldie.
Jackson (2), Reece (1 1/2) and Lauryn (almost 5) enjoying breakfast together.
February 8th marked the 100th day of school for the kids!  They had fun in school with different activities and each came home with some memorabilia.  100 down, only 87 to go!

Jackson participated in his first wrestling tournament in Hibbing last weekend.  The whole experience was a lot of fun for us all.  This sport really shows a lot of courage and heart.  Quite a few of the kids left the mat in tears with hurt pride, but their teammates and great coaches were there to support, win or lose.  Jackson didn't win any of his 3 matches, but smiled right through every one of them!  He needs to work a little on his skill, and a lot on his game face!  He really enjoyed it and can't wait to take on Greenway next month.

A fishing we will go!

A few hours in my Dad's fishhouse and the kids are pros!  They can't wait to go back, and neither can I.
Lauryn's first fish threw the ice...
...Jackson's came a little while longer!

Us 2.1

A year after tossing out the old blog, I'm taking another stab at it.  Here's a summary of what's going on with us.

Jay is working for Sight and Sound still.  He is broadening his skills and qualifications more every year.  After two years of lots of travel and training with the PhonicEar brand, he is branching out more and learning more about Smart.  He is heading to Calgary next week for more training.  This will mean just as much traveling, if not more, throughout the year.

Not a lot has changed for me.  I am still enjoying my role as Domestic Engineer.  I do my best to keep my family happy, active and fed!    All though we thought this would end last year, I am still providing childcare in my home.  It's going much better this time around and I'm enjoying it again!

Lauryn turned 8 in November and is in grade 3.  It's amazing to see the stuff she is learning in school this year.  She loves school and can barely stand to miss a day of it!  She currently is in drama club and swimming lessons through school.  On the weekends she is the team captain of her bowling league, with an average in the 80's.  She shares a love for gardening with me and can't wait for the season change!

Jackson is 5 1/2 and in Kindergarten.  He surprises me everyday.  He's learning to read with very little trouble and loves math.  Printing has proven to not be his favourite activity at school, but momma has a little trick at home and we are working with it more.  Jackson is wrestling three time a week now, in the Falls.  He is a Mighty Mustang and love every second of it!
